Parralles in The Tempest and Fowles the Collector (Caliban)

I am not sure where the Caliban originated from, however,
I know there can be a comparison of him in a novel by John Fowels,
called tthe Collector. I am having trouble however drawing parrallels
between Shakespeare's The Tempest and John Fowles THe Collector.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!
