Hamlet without his sweet religion?

By choosing the period Branagh did, belief in God cannot have the moment that it should have - that it did have in the Reformation. The insights, tranfigurations, dillemas are all upon the supposition that Hamlet is a believer and a knowledgable one. Had B. choosen a Wesleyian school master to be Hamlet he would have been closer to Shakespeare than the men in tight jackets that he has produced. I feel that "Hamlet" within the period it was designed for - Luther's time - has not been fully realized, certainly regarding costume. B. has missed the whole point and has substituted his own big top circus.
