Again...

My point is that Ophelia is much more than a symbol in the structure of the play. I agree that given the value Elizabethean and most western societies put on a young woman's virginity, it seems unlikely that she would have slept with Hamlet - it would have been a disastrous choice. However, no one can really say. She DID kill herself... It is an interesting approach to the relationship, and no one can really say except the actor playing Ophelia in any given production. That is her choice to to make.
