...Man's Ingratitude

In a subplot of As You Like It, the good Duke Senior and his followers were ousted by the Duke's evil brother, and are now living in exile in the forest "like Robin Hood of old." The song comes when the Duke comments that they are better off with nature, that may occasionally be harsh but is not evil, than they were back in the court.
